Gillian is an experienced Clinical Psychologist working with adults and youths (15+) who have depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, chronic pain, relationship difficulties, personality disorders and emotional regulation problems.

Previous Experience

Previous experience includes working for non-governmental organisations, alcohol and drug services, community mental health and in private practice.  Gillian has also worked in London, UK as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in a private mental health hospital.


Gillian completed her clinical psychology training at Massey University in 2006.  She achieved a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology.

A member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and the Institute of Clinical Psychology.

My Approach

Gillian works primarily with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness, but also draws from other modalities depending on client needs.  The use of a client-centred and holistic approach, allows the client to develop positive coping skills and to essentially become their own therapist.  Mindfulness skills help to develop an inner calmness and the ability to tolerate and become more accepting of negative emotions, and learning CBT skills allows the client to develop skills for challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, and to put in place a healthy and balanced lifestyle.  The overall aim of therapy is for the client to live a valued and purposeful life with the ability to be compassionate towards the self and others.
